Watching with interest as have spare ZF to play with 3rd gear lock up etc.

Hi Cockie55,
the compushift is an excellent tool, give you loads more control,
the bigger converter reduces the heat generation due to the lower stall speed and the smaller converters can 'cavitate' with high torque engines which increaqses heat, the bigger lockup clutch is a bonus, also with the compushift you can set it to not lock when you are over a set throttle position, so if you have this set at say 70% and you are accelerating at 90% throttle it won't lock until you back of to 70% or less, also if crusing locked at 50% throttle and you accelerate, it will unlock at 70% to assist acceleration. We are also about to fit an extra solenoid in the ZF so you get engine braking in 1st when you are shifting tiptronically with the compushift.
I don't know of any pump upgrades, the pumps don't fail unless you don't fit the converter right on installation,
to put the big converter in a D1 or any rover V8 you just use the P38 starter ring and flexplate set up.
you can swap out a hydraulic and fit an electronic no problem, in a D1 you would just use the D2 4.0 auto which is identical but electronic, or preferable the US spec 4.6 D2 autobox which is a 24 which is the same but + 15mm.
Hi Blknight.aus,
yes, theres no substitute for a big cooler, there cheap compared to a fancy autobox so fit 2 !
working it hard unlocked will generate heat, very soon the compushift will have a flick switch to lock the converter on demand for these situations,
Hi George130,
we have had big heat issues with tuned TD5's running 1.2 transfer case gearing, the converter cavitates and gets roasting hot and cooks it, this is where the TD5 HD converter works well, we remove the small diameter TD5 one and fit a new spigot and flange to the medium diameter V8 4.0 type which makes it a straight swap, works very well in this application.
