I've not done Hilux sprung under.

Rear is very easy - new spring perches and adapt brake lines and propshaft to suit.

Front will be spring perches also. I have not done SUA with these, though the spring spacing is only about 20mm different, so you can force the springs. Perches would be better though to remove this stress and so that you can determine your pinion angle. These are setup as 2 brake lines to the front, not 1, so depending on S3 brake setup (I had a S2 which had simgle line to the front) you may need to reroute. Adapt tailshaft also. The only complication that I can see, is bringing the steering down as SUA. SUA isn't a common conversion, though I suspect you could use a LC60 tie rod??? between the 2 front axles and then either adapt the series drag link (length and Toyota ball joint) to connect as per normal LC60 setup - or as I've done, just run a Toyota PAS box also.

There will be fabrication and adapting irrespective of which way you go.

A rover engine gearbox will work better with a Rover axles - the stock options here are 3.54 and 4.7. A Hilux gearbox will generally work better with hilux axles and have 4.1, 4.3, 4.5 and 4.88 gears. LC60 axles will work better with Rover gearboxs and big tyres and have 4.1 gears.
    Cheers

Ok I have been mulling over a few idea all day,

1UZFE with Hilux gearbox(adapters easily available) and hilux diffs - better buying a toyota to start with...
Rover V8 with LT95 or adapted to box that's in there - rear prop issues
Windsor V8 adapted to box in vehicle RR axles but convert chassis to coil springs - Think we have a winner here

The 1UZFE would be great and it's light like Rover but I kinda like the idea of the whole thing rocking when you floor the throttle, tuning and the likes is much easier on Windsor too so other than it being as heavy as Ayres Rock it seems a good idea, although not sure on dimensions in the Series Bay.

Rangie diffs arnt going to be much chop if ya going to use a bigger V8 u will smash the standard rangie diffs 10 or 24 spline the centers are shyte ..

Go the lux diffs and the lux box tho the lux boxes are fairly weak also maby a set of 60 axles and a 60 box matched to a windsor or chev for that matter the adaptor plates are there and the 60 axles and box will be far stronger than any of the STD rover shyte

Yep 60 gear box prefrably the later 5 speed with transfer case and marks do an adaptor to chev not sure on ford but id say that marks would be able to sort ya out ...

Find an old 60 theres plenty around now cheap as they are all but rust on wheels now and you should get all the drive line bits ya need

Had a quick look and 60 Series stuff not easy to find here....... Hilux stuff is EVERYWHERE though. Is the Hilux gearbox really that bad?

Ok guys I think it is in fact a Toyota Dyna Gearbox flipped 90 degrees on it's side, have a look.. JustinC you look to have been right.

    Mine:

    Dyna:

The only bastard here is that due to it being flipped 90 none of the bellhousing adapters for Chev/1UZFE etc are going to fit....... GREAT

Just been looking again at the pics and maybe not, if it is flipped 90 then the standard selector mounting is not there where it should be is it???? And the casing webbing is wrong, that should be on the side of my box not the drain plug as seen...... ok maybe I was a bit hasty....
