I have seen a couple of Landies with Ford 4.1s. They go well (for a petrol).
If it was my landie, I would fit an EFI 4.1, cruiser 80 series axles (keep the leaves), and leave it at that (probably lengthen to 105").
Of if I wanted coils, get a cheap 110 chassis (if possible?) and shorten it to 100-105", bolt the engine and box in, and fit the GU/80 series axle combo that a few have done.
Both of the above would be the easiest way to get what you want IMHO. (disregard the WB comments if you are happy with 88"). No V8, but search on youtube for some vids of worked ford I6 engines.

I know that would be best option but I am pulling it to bits to do a full restore so want to do it right, and I really want a V8, I think if I go for anything else I will always think I should have went V8.....
Staying 88" too, gotta be SWB

Slunnie,
Have just read through your build on the Ute, I am going to follow your lead I think and run 60 axles and Power steering on the leafs. Also will probably take the gerabox out and try and work out what can be done to use that with the standard Series 3 transfer case, and from there will choose what V8 to run, but would like to use Rover. Can't go LT95 though due to rear prop length....
Barry.
