You could always call Jeff and ask? (if he is in a good mood...)

Back when Sam posted that thread, IRC prices were $3k for a complete setup (locker, axles and flanges).

A D60 35spl ARB locker alone is about AU$1000 in the US at the moment.

Yes. Back when Sam posted his thread I was living OS. I could get a D60 ARB locker in the US for US$675, which at the time was AU$900ish. Sam told me that trade on the ones he was buying in oz were around AU$950 at the time.

    Need to change:
    Centre
    Axles
    Stub axles
Drive flanges (included with JM axles)
    Bearings
    Hub machining???

sounds pretty reasonable considering im would be doing all that bar the stub axles and machining if went for the maxi drive axles, i would probobly still be changing the stub axles because my salisbury is drum and i will be converting to disk while i put the locker in.

Got the 24 spline maxi with the Salisbury ... for quite some years. Never had any problems. (Touch wood - screwed if you break it now seeing as I believe he no longer makes them).

My point is most people are not breaking 24 spline Maxi axles even with Maxis or detroits.
Ill say it again nothing is unbreakable sometimes vehicles just get used for things that they shouldnt, use them sensibly and you should be fine.
Toyota axles seem to go at about 6900 ft pound and I think Maxis go at about 5700 ft pound so there is a bit of a difference
I have seen over 12 ton towed with a Series 2 88 inch with 10 spline axles in fact if you look on Youtube you will find a Range Rover Classic doing burnouts with 10 spline axles

I will replace my Maxi axles when I break them but they have held up so far

well if its not going to cost me to much more i dont mind paying the extra and going to 35spline especially with running 37s, ARB sals and 24 spline maxidrives would probobly do me but I would rather avoid the breakages if i can.

Does anyone know what bearings the Mcnamara hubs/stubs use?

He machines his own stubs and bores out the hubs, reckons drum brake hubs are better to use more meat, then machine them etc to take the disc, although I never got around into looking at how hard that part would be, no idea on what bearings
