Hey Khos... Are you asleep again.. Any news on the heads yet
We made it back ok. Took about about 6 hrsand the trailer still erupted at 93 kmh on the Mitsu
Tony
You most probably find the "Bits of Ali on threads" left overs from when you had to Crack" the bolts to undo .... as this is the ali that jambs and got pressed into the bolt thread surface .... as temperature and pressure mould the 2 surfaces together and act as a bond
Hope that explains it

Hey Mate , sleep again at 09:00 pm![]()
glad you guys made it safely , ....
so pushing the Rangie forward on the Trailer didn't really help I take it ?.
Re: Heads , Bruce called yesterday and some of the springs don't quite have the poundage required ie i think he said they require 75 psi but they only had 60-65 ,so a new set of springs are going in , some of the valve guides need replacing ,so a new set of valve guides also being put in . so there is work in progress....

Khos, The bolts are meant to be lubricated when torqued down, and failure to do this causes the friction to peel off some material.
If you dip each bolt about 2-3MM in the Holden sealant that I recommended you buy before insertion and torquing , this will not reoccur.
BD seems to be doing a thorough job on the heads.

when "Rangier Rover" was here on Monday , i asked "how we could retract the Extractors
on the Passenger side"? , so Tony Loosen'ed the Engine mount Nuts from underneath & we
placed a Block of wood under the Sump and with help of a Bottle jack resting on another Block
of wood on the ground , we managed to Jack the Motor up , he then took off the engine
"mounting brackets" completely , and retract them , so then this gave us enough clearance
to pull up the Passenger side extractors. Thanks Tony
I'm contemplating on wheather I should send my extractors away for "Ceramic Coating" ? I believe
"ceramic coating" is done inside and outside of pipe work, is this correct ?
Tony had a Look at both of the Engine mounts , and noticed both were "buggered".
Part of the engine mount pictured below has been burnt due to excessive heat from extractors![]()
so I will have to wrap them in heat resistant material on fabricate some sort of
"heat shield" so hopefully this doesn't happen again.
one on other side the rubber's just cracked , will I need to replace it ? I have anyway.
their only $20.0 each
So after ordering 2 brand new ones , they arrived today along with my new head bolts and washers ,
so I replaced both engine mountsI've been giving close attention to things that are possibly
going to give me grief later on and replace them while I have room.
so Far everything else is in order , the steering Rubber Joint just before the steering box is
also cracked , I will post a Pic of it tomorrow and if anyone reckons it needs replacing I will do so.
About time for some progressThey look worse in the pic then in real life
Must have been the change in altitude that day

Have you pulled the rest of the exhast off yet? I was to knakerd from heat beer and a few op rums the night before to do it![]()
That rangie is in fair shape other than that D1 tail shaft in it
I took the 90 model from Rutherglen for a run and when I hit 120 kmh the windscreen caved inBut runs very well
Air con doesn't work
Has done compressor seal
I havn't had a look at the D1 here for LHS light etc yet sorry
Tony
i know, haven't been doing much to Rangie lately , been waiting for parts from BMI
Yep , the rest of Zorst is out
Doesn't that Sound Familiar?
That 's an easy fixI'll change it to a Proper uni joint Tail shaft , I have one sitting in the garage rebuilt by "hardy Spicer".
Damn , and to know that you wanted all the good bits of A/C for your Project vehicle
That's cool Mate , all I need is 2 Plastic Clip Holders for the back of the D1 LHS light and I'm sorted , re: the Crack it' not that Bad , so it's still usable
nice Loong secondarys on those extractors--![]()

Hey Tony
I bought a BRAND new Compressor (quality brand) for my 90RRC for $380
Also get rid of the front heat exchange condenser and swap it for a D1 ... as the 90 is old school design ... I have to do this swap myself during the winter .... as the "Head" pressure was at 300 psi instead of what they would have expected of 200psi ... in other words the RRC90 condenser does not work properly
