I picked up my heads and intake manifold from Davis performance Landys yesterday ,I have to say I am extremely pleased with the result and am glad that I took the "good advice" of all the gurus on here and had them done "properly".
so to sumerise what was done.
cylinder heads serviced
all valve guides replaced
refaced all valve seats
replaced all valve springs
matched ported cylinder heads
valve stem seals replaced on fitament of all parts
vacuum tested heads and found all ok.
port matched inlet manifold
Flow tested injectors
found little low, injector flowed at 50cc target flow rate is 56cc

I'm back to work on Monday ,07:00 start , ....you'e right I can't wait till I put it all back together , and am keen to see if any power improvements to be had , I should have at the least more low down Torquedon't know , wait and see , I will try & report back with some results once it's all back together again possibly with Dyno results , I dropped off my extractors today to get sent to Melb.
haha , they do look very clean , spent a few hours last night cleaning in the garage. the intake manifolds had been sprayed with metal primer so the previous owner/s could spray them Blue enamel , I stripped it all off with paint stripper and cleaned it all off with turps . they come up alright.![]()
Oi Khos.... Got the heads back on yet?I havn't got your D1 HL clips yet
Tony
I didn't realise I've created so much interest on this build
Can't put heads back untill my extractors have come back from Melb , rememeber ? they need to go on first ...
Can of VHT spray paint ordered to spray the rest of exhaust.
It may not happen overnight but it will happenalso another thing is , if I finish this Build too "quickly" then I have nothing else to do
Re: Headlights I'd be interested in both H/Lights if you're wiling to part with them , so PM me and let me know the pri$e.
OK ... found you another job to do while we are waiting ....
You have been cleaning all that aluminum ...
IE: Rocker covers & Valley intake ... As soon as they get a few K's on them they are gonna dull off
Can you tape up the intake holes and give a coat of clear to preserve that new look??
Unsure of what to use ... so you would need to inquire on whats suitable![]()
Khos, one thing you have to do is to make sure the inlet gasket will not overlap the ports now they have been opened out or you lose all the increase in area.
I use a Dremel to grind the inlet gasket back towards the sprung portion to ensure that the hole in the gasket is bigger than the port although my ports are a bit bigger than yours..

Khos this is a excellent thread and it is you who have propogated that by your plain english enquiring style that invites quality replies and not to mention your good pics. Well done and keep it up.
