But you are a relatively new / low poster and only seem to come on here to complain.
The bolt is a widely known issue and you only had to ask. No worse than Toyotas and Nissans popping engines just out of warranty.
Still I would be complaining to LRA and LR UK as it is a known issue. There is some technicality due to the known low numbers affected a recall was not required.
I gather you can not turn the motor over by hand at all?
As Tombie has said we have all had other engines fail due to oil pump failures, just a shame a diesel is so expensive to repair or replace.
I had the oil pickup on a Transit V4 fall off - the brazed joint failed and the whole pipe fell off.

The blokes have been building these thing for 60odd years, these vehicles are meant for the bush, you would think that they would be getting simple thing right by now

My sons 05 Navara also very nearly had the engine destroyed.It has the 3l engine,diesel.It appears the oil pressure was not relieved on cold start up,& blew out the o ring on the oil filter,He was very lucky he only did a short trip to the shops & noticed a pool of oil under the vehicle.
Do you think Nissan were interested........they couldnt care.......see if it happens again...........thanks for nothing........
Now if the engine had kept running,all the oil would have been pumped out,and it would have siezed:(

After all it is a machine and machines fail. There are many of us that have had all manor of car engine and bike engine failures and is the risk of buying an out of warranty vehicle.
As I said not good but it has been common knowledge for some time.
If all you want to do is come on this site and whinge about your LR, then its time to move on. If a question is to be asked then fine ask it.
As I did say I would still be fronting LR about it.
It has happened, not the first and not the last, I am sure. But get past it and try and come up with a solution.
Just ask me about the $3k it cost me after my Ducati went in for a service and dropped the belts 20kms down the road. Not nice and should not have happened, but I got it fixed and moved on as there was no way the dealer would admit liability. Then there has been Ford crossflow engines, Holden 253 oil pump failure and seized engines, Honda and Yamaha dirt bikes, Pajero head failures and the list goes on.
Simple answer is if you do not want the hassles that go with owning a car, dont buy one.
I think it was actually a glitch in the manufacturing plant where the fellow who's job is to loctite the oil pump bolt was off sick for a couple of years in the middle of the production run. Globally it's common knowledge and it reinforces the need to use LR specialist servicing and to buy LandRovers that have been serviced by specialists.Quote:
