    Broken Engine Mounts

I have a 110 County V8, which the engine and transmission mounts have broken - rubber sheared though on the ones I can see. Engine/transimssion has rotated about 15 deg to drivers side.

Has anyone replaced these by jacking up everything from underneath? I do not have any access to overhead winches etc - must work on car in street. Should I give it a go or just send it to a workshop?

Reasonably easy to do from underneath, If you want heavier duty mounts then Jaguar ones fit. From memory you dont have to remove radiator shroud etc.

    thats how I do em...

undo the nuts that hold it from the top. crawl under then do the ones on the bottom.

block of wood under the sump and up she goes...

replace that mount + lower till it seats spin the nuts on till the heads are flat with the studs then repeat the process on the other mounts till all are changed.

double check the seating position of the box and the donk. and if Im happy pull the nut of loctite the threads (242) drop on the split washers/other washers as appropriate and tighten them up.

BUT you do have to loosen the fan shroud.
Just a suggestion. Most of the mounts have threads that are far too long. They would be much easier to fit if you cut off about half the thread.
Also make sure you get nuts, as some have BSF, some coarse etc etc.
Re jacking up . I use a bit of say 40x40 MM pine and place it under the front bolt flange of the sump , just in case the sump dents.
