    Question thinking about a p76

hi all, i have got a good p76 motor which currently has lucas fuel injection and adaptor plates (not sure if these are good or bad) i have a 2 barrel p76 mannifold that is in good condition and also a rangie inlet with good carbies im sure heaps of you will have beendown this road and am looking for advice/opinions about which way to go also on one of my motors i have vienesse heads which raised the compession heaps and have been told that if these were on a p76 it would have about 12:1 compression is that too much or is it a great idea....thanks heaps..

Sounds nice tho the compression is a tad high for any sort of pump fuel here in aus even LPG the P76 is a great engin in a rover id leave the EFI on it and get it goin sweet with that if its the later EFI from a D1 or just set it up to run on LPG with the EFI maniflod

The rangie inlet manifold won't fit as the valley on the P76 is wider than the Rover V8. You need to use spacers on each side of the manifold and this puts the whole carby system too high to get under the Rangie bonnet.

Go with the 2 barrel, they are much better off the road than 4 barrel ones.

Did you also get the RR-P76 extractors as they have to cope with the wider block and the effectively narrower chassis?

I went from a P76 based 5 litre (Rockhampton Engine Reconditioning development), back to a RR EFI 4.6 because of the lack of EFI etc for the P76 engine and it was the best thing I ever had done to the car. More reliable, off the shelf spare parts etc. etc.

ive got the lucas fuel injection and im not a huge fan of it how hard would it be to fit the inlet off a 3.9 motor with the bosch fuel injection i guess i would need a matching computor but would the wiring be insane or if i had the whole loom etc would it be reasnoble or straitforward

Edelbrock spread bore dual plane manifold and a Rochester Quadrajet. Simple, reliable, effective.

The Bosch is a better unit, but again you come across the valley width issue. My RRc uses the standard RRc plenum and injectors and a Motec M48 ECU without the MAS box etc. I'm a bit light on the rest of the data as it was a here is my car and a whole bunch of dollars and several weeks later Graeme Cooper handed the car back to me deal(well actually it was Ward who did the handing.)

whats the edlebrock manifold worth roughly and would it match up to adaptor plates and if anyone is using adaptor plates do there's use a gasket between the adaptor plate and the mannifold, mine dont and its caused leakage problems in the past

I've got a P76 manifold which has been modded with the rangie twin strombergs instead of the standard P76 carby - never got arouns to fitting it before I upgraded.

I had a holley but was unable to get it setup correctly to not flood on steep hills offroad.

Vitesse heads are the same as Range Rover 3.9 heads.
