Naturally I was a little nervous about the extra leverage of a tee and pressure switch as well as Diesel vibration and corrugated roads.
You do not need to do any welding if you get the VDO adapter. It is a very simple job at the end of the adapter you screw the onriginal sender and on one side the VDO sender. There is room for both

    Taken from lr4x4.com

vdo gauge 300 tdi - LR4x4 - The Land Rover Forum

    300 Tdi:

    350-104 2 1/16 80 PSI Elec. engine pressure gauge Vision $25.75

    360-006 Pressure Sender: 0-80 PSI/5 Bar - M10x1K - 7.0 PSI $28.37

    333-156 2 1/16 4,000 RPM Tachometer Vision $74.81

    310-105 2 1/16 250F Elec. engine temp gauge Vision $25.55

    323-095 Temperature Sender: 250F/120C - 1/8-27 NPT - $7.31

    310-153 2 1/16 250F-1650F Pyrometer (EGT) Vision Marine $153.75

    1994 3.9 V8

    323-417 Temperature Sender: 250F/120C - M16x1.5 - $18.82

    310-105 2 1/16 250F Elec. engine temp gauge Vision $25.55

    350-104 2 1/16 80 PSI Elec. engine pressure gauge Vision $25.75

    360-009 Pressure Sender, 0-80PSI/5 Bar - 1/8-27 NPT $33.34

    5-1/8 F50G-S Adapter Fitting: Parker Hydraulics - $11

All these parts were sourced from eguages.com, which is a US company, so all the readings are psi, fahrenheit, etc. Also, these guages have words like "temp" "pressure" etc, because its a US requirement to have actual words. We're not smart enough for icons. The senders are the really important stuff though, the sizes being the main challenge. I've personally used each of these parts and can vouch for the correcness of the list.

Note that an old oil pressure sender can have the center knocked out and a bung can be welded on to create a cheap adapter.

And this baby comes with a thread that will fit your npt thread.

Just a follow-up on this thread for those using VDO pressure senders and the brass tee piece to measure oil pressure.

I found i had a poor earth at the sender that was giving me lower pressures than actual. The sender relies on the earth of the connections back to the block.

I ran a hose clamp around the outside of the VDO sender with a wire directly back to the engine block and improved my oil pressure figures.

    Hi All
I found that the oil switch / gauge adaptor for a VW motor was exactlly what I needed for the 300TDi.
