A quick (hopefully) question on slider mountings.... i bought some to install but are they strong enough just bolting through the outriggers or does it need some reinforcing etc?

    Cheers in advance

What you need to remember here is that these things are called sliders for a reason. They are designed to protect the car from minor knocks and bumps. Even if you were to add some more substantial brackets they still are not going to prevent damage if you hit them hard enough.
I view mine as more robust than the aluminium sill plates, cheaper to replace than the floor rails and harder to hit than steps but if you can avoid using them you should.

dunno, i reckon mine are way stronger than the OE side steps. after all the OE side step copped a floggin, didnt look straight ever and pushed the pass side floor up so far my sliders are rock soild and dont move at all!
apart from the wench step getting caught on a fallen tree in the vic high country, that tore the outrigger mount from the slider...

    cheers phil

These are mine, home made of course, they've been on for about 4 yrs now. Made of 75 x 50 x ... can't remember the thickness, they mount to the outriggers and floor rails in 6 places, the whole car has slid on rock with the opposing side wheels off the ground with only the paint suffering. No point carrying a hi lift if you can't use it !
