    Hi Jezz,

I have a 300 Tdi but I'd suspect the gauge and sender are the same on the V8. And yes, they don't start to move up beyond the 'normal' position (just under half-scale) until the actual temp is over 100 C. Can't recall exactly when I've noticed mine start to move upwards - probably around 105 C?

Have seen 114 C on the Barkly Hwy, towing 2.2T into a headwind on a 40+ C day. As EGT was getting up to about 650 at the same time, decided to back-off a bit and tootle along at 75 km for a while until things cooled. For interest, 114 C was about 2/3 up the gauge but still below the 'Red'.

    Hope this helps.

Where, on the motor, have you put the water temp gauge sender unit?
