Yes, Yes, I know this is a LR Forum, but maybe someone can still help me, pleeeassseee!
I've found that its a lot harder to get info on a common car than a Landrover. I also posted this on Aus Ford Forums.
The Problem: AU III Futura, When travelling up a long hill on a hot day (like 43degrees) the car begins to cut out, as if someone is turning the ignition on an off.
I have had fault codes read and came back with "ignition monitor self test out of range" so I have checked coil pack resistance, changed leads, and fuel filter, which had never been done (95,000kms), problem has happened again but only in extreme heat.
Could it be the cylinder de-activation in the ECU due to excessive heat??
I have also noticed the coolant comes out the overflow when engine off sometimes, but returns to normal level when started. Temp guage reads about the "O" on normal. Running my hand over the Radiator it seems to be cooler down the bottom even though it is a crossflow rad. Should I have it flushed?
Other than this the car runs smooth, and responsive, and you wouldn't know there was a problem??? I need to get this car fixed so I can stop driving it, and return it to my folks.
Any Advice appreciated? Apart from return it to the rubbish dump or any other Ford Jokes
