turbo hose gone kaput!
maybe stuck open waste gate??
do you still have the EGR sysstem fitted? they can fail closed also.
no other engine noises??

Sounds like my TD5 Disco was, intercooler hoses made a huge difference!

turbo hoses are fine

waste gate could be (where's that)

yes the EGR is still fitted

other engines noises to hard to here over the rattles

Waste gate the shaft that comes off the turbo to the exh manifold
EGR i reckon is your prob
But its still hard to judge over the net
