How often do you change your fornt Disc Pads?

I was investigating a grinding noise coming from the front of my Disco apparant in the last few cms only when coming to a stop. Immediately I thought my disc pads were probably running onto the metal.
But when checking the pads have almost the same amount of meat on them as when I fitted them. (They were Bendix 4wd with metal in them) Now I fitted these about 7 years ago? I thought they at least should have shown wear. I did notice a little bit of grazing on the rotor from the metal. So I reckon these pads are too Hard and have probably glazed?

By the way the grinding noise I believe was due to low oil in the Swivel/axle housing. I noticed the oil was leaking from somewhere and was starting to saturate the bottom of the caliper. So I'm goint to pull it apart and repalce the gaskets, seals and bearing whilst I'm at it.

How long is that piece of string???

The average would be all over the place, driving styles, load carrying and terrain.
I never had to change pads in any of my 9 landies.

Usually, the rear ones wear out much quicker. About 2-3x...
