    Chassis mounted rock sliders?

    Hey all
I've been wondering for a while now, which would be the best way to mount sliders to the chassis on a d1?
I was thinking either the out riggers or the main chassis
I wan't to mount them to the chassis so they are nice and strong when jacking etc (don't won't to destroy my sills)
Here's one way i was thinking of...

But obviously if i go with this mounting idea i would bolt to the chassis not weld
    So what does everyone think?
Which is the best way to mount sliders to the chassis?

Look at sliders mounted to the sills, much better option

I don't have detailed pics of mine I made, not gonna take pics now as its flogging with rain but its a piece of angle screwed then sikaflexed to the sills with some 75mmx 25mm box, looks nice and neat and very effective

but chassis mount has alot of flex and alot of wieght

    sliders

    Hey Tim
The sliders on our Rangie are chassis mounted via plates welded to the chassis with M12 threaded holes in them. The slider bolts to these. But the body of the slider sits hard against the sill as well and they have endured a lot of testing trust me.Just make sure if you chassis mount to do a body lift etc first. If I can get down to Glenreagh over Easter you can pick it to pieces.

I'm pretty sure Tusker when he had his D1 had something similar made by KLR years ago. Chassis mounted but also sat against the sills aswell. A nice design because then you limit the sill forces to upwards only forces and any lateral forces go directly into the chassis - so less prone to sill bending. That said, my ones bolt directly to the sill and haven't bent, but thats not at all to say a good landing wont bend them.

    Thanks Slunnie
I wanted to mount to the Chassis so i didn't bend my sill
But i was wondering if you have long arms bolted to the chassis wouldn't that cause to much leverage?

    Hi Tim,

I think it would put a heap of leverage through if it is designed that the one in your pics (rather than like an body outrigger) and absolutely landed on - the mounts would probably flex and bend you sills/doors, but if its done so that the sill is used to control the upwards movement and distribute the load through the sill also like what justin has, then I cant imagine it causing any problems because the slider can be forced up and there is no point loadings from it onto the body.
    Cheers
