The 300Tdi is inherently a sound, proven and reliable engine. As stated, there is a problem lurking somewhere which should not be too difficult to address and sort out for good.
    1. Find the reason for overheating and fix it properly
    2. Change gasket (use OEM part only)
    3. Head needs to be planed
    4. Refit using new bolts
    5. Enjoy your engine for the next several 100.000kms

    Good luck!

There are people who spend all weekend cleaning the car.

To update this machine, I talked to the owner this morning she said the car is auto, the head is currently off, it failed a crack check so its cactus, the bottom end would be ok I expect, she said it has only ever been serviced by normal mechanics like kmart etc so wouldnt think a genuine gasket has ever been used in it or the bolts ever replaced, its still up for grabs though she has one phone number at the moment from one member, I will keep updating this so we know where its at.
