You may want to check for voltage loss across the Glow Plug Relay terminals,if any loss at all, relay may be shot.![]()
Gday
Ever since I bought my new Defender it has taken ages for the glow plug light to go off. When I say ages I mean 30-40 seconds.
I found this a bit odd, my old mans takes about 4-5 seconds the same as my old Defender.
Today I had a bit of a fiddle around. All the glow plugs are working and in good nic, and getting about 11.3V.
Does anyone have any ideas what could be the problem?
Is it the little timer that is fitted to the 300 Tdi and 200 Tdi? could that be buggered?
Thanks

There is a drop of about 1 volt
Would that be the problem?
Bump
Any idea how much a new relay is anyway?
Thanks
How healthy is the battery Jock?
A 200/300 Tdi doesn't really need glow plugs - as it is a DI diesel with decent compression.
Pete (Red October) has the glow plugs disconnected on his 300Tdi 110. IRC he said it starts straight away - even when under a meter of snow in the alps.
Did a switcheroo with the old mans relay today; well what do you know it works
I'll look into a new relay on Monday![]()
They're "relatively" expensive.
