Transfer case: Castrol Syntrax. Synthetic gear oil.
Diffs: Any good 80w/90 gear oil.
What does everyone use? Book I have says straight 70w synthetic. I have been using a Penrite semi-synth as an emergency top-up but it's off to have a leak fixed, and will be changed completely. Recomendations? Mechanic has 75-90w semi synth available, otherwise I'd better order something. What about diffs?
Cheers,
Dave

A diff specialist recommended an extreme pressure (EP) rated gear/diff oil for the diffs This is due to shear loading of the diff gears. Tfr case does not have the same shear loading so a good gear oil is ok.
Made sense when he explained it. He lives and breathes diffs so I guess he's the subject matter expert.......
