The air holds it in so if its detached it should unlock. Here is a pic of what it looks like.

When the switch is flicked it is like it is working fine the solinoid releases the air. I,m wondering if a spring may of broke???

    3 common causes

    1. swelling of the airseal holding it all in place
    2. burring on either the locking ring or the halfshaft splines it rides on
    3. failure of the air seal allowing diff oil into the air chamber and hydraulically locking it out.
