You do realise that different brands may have different dia (maybe 20mm) for the SAME size tyre!
There are even differences between say a Mickey Thompson ATZ and an MTZ. eg MTZ 265/75/16 is 813mm or 32.00"

Very true Maxxis Bighorns i got today should be just a bit over 33 measure 34, i think they measured the tyre carcass minus tread.
Drives very nice with that size steering is still good as the tyre is not too wide, goes great on the sand climbs the dunes very easily compared to the 235/85/16 i had on then took them straight out into the bush and they went great in the mud and slop. I have standard gearing and a Tdi and have not really noticed too much of a performance drop.

Do you have a body lift as well, or just the 2 inch lift?

I thought your wheels were the standard steelies as well. Wouldn't you have pretty significant scrubbing?

I must admit, once my 245/75 bighorns are worn out, I'll be very seriously looking at 255/85s now as well since I've got my 3" coils in.

    Cheers

No body lift, though i am looking at doing a 30mm body lift and flares, more for looks than anything else i also got 16x8 rims with a 0 offset.100_3802.jpg

Steering is good and with the offset of these rims the tyres sit flush with the guards so technically i don't need flares.100_3804.jpg i had to test them in the mud straight away (bloody good) 100_3809.jpg

My mate put 285/75/16 on his Patrol, only problem was tyre noise, scrubbing and wondering on the road.

he now wishes he had listened to some people that recomended using skinnies (245/85/16) or similar as the big tyres also wore most his steering components and off-road not as good.
great in sand with 12psi though as it leaves a huge foot print.

Car looks very much tonka truck like too which he liked at first now thinks its too cowboy like.

I stick to my skinnies as I always have, the sand is only place I can get hung up on at times.

Best of luck, does the flaring etc take some resale off the value?
