Torque converter Assistance
I am new to the forum, owning a Disco TD5 2003 model auto. Having been sitting in the background perusing all the topics, picking up a number of very helpful hints and tips.
I purchased my vehicle new and have always had it serviced by the dealer. Having now moved away from the area and reading the forum items, decided to get a bit more involved with my own maintenance on the Disco. Whilst under the vehicle on the weekend, I noticed that a drain plug appears to be missing from the torque converter.
I am not a gearbox person hence the question. I have had no issues with the gearbox or any drive component to date. Shoould a plug be in this hole, and should the torque converter have oil?

The hole is for the wading plug & is left open unless you go swimming
.
It's also mentioned in the owners handbook (well, it used to be on the D1 so I assume it is on the D2).

Encouraging to hear its still there.
I had heard that on some classic Rangie autos, this had been reduced to a couple of slots. To go swimming you needed Part No. #WRIGLEYS.
True or LR folklore?

I just installed a zf from a 93 rr in place of lt95 and there is only a slot to let the water in and out,at the front of the bellhousing
I filled it with silicone.
There is an inspection plate of about 75 mm diameter located by three bolts just behind this , drill an eleven mm hole in the centre of this and weld a ten mm nut behind, use a short bolt that wont protrude too much and you have a wading plug.
