Warn Hi-Mount or Ramsey if you can find one, both almost indestructible if looked after.
Any Hi mount under $1000 is good value if you've got the spodoolies.

The new Terrain Taimer winch wasn't included in that test because it wasn't quite available. They did the same tests with the TT winch in the following issue and said that it was the quickest of the lot. I'm not sure what price they currently are, but I have read only good reports about them, and I think they are similarly priced to the Ironman and T-Max units.
TT, hadnt thought of them..... will have to check out their website too
thanks![]()
Mark, don't go there!!! only a poor man buys twice. They are slow and unreliable - just when you need them most they will go to crap, and try getting parts to fix them. Recently saw a Repco special in action, the car was filling with water fast and the winch was soo00 slow the vehcile was totally flooded by the time it was recovered. I've never seen a winch wind in that slow!!
2nd hand Warn is the best solution by far, or X9 ar'nt too bad if they are looked after and the motor is upgraded - they are based on Warn design anyway.
After seeing your winch in action I agree, better save up more $$ and just buy a good one.

That seems a little dear, I've just done a pto setup on my 110:
Pto box and winch: $650 (thanks, Rovercare!)
One new Uni joint: $112
New bearings and seals througout: $80
Steel to build a custom mount: $75
New 40m x 10mm rope and hook: $240
Sundries:$10
All done and dusted for under $1200: priceless!
I have a 8000lb Warn Slowmount and a high mount in the shed.
The lowmount is great.... never failed..
Highmount will replace the lowmount one day...
Highmount cost me about $1k and had to travel to get it..
waiting on a price from the states for a high mount warn, looks like I can save about $800 getting it from there......
