Been there - done that - same mistake - cost me a packet in $$$ and a pile of anxiety.

Fixed it though - well some part of it. Sold my POS. It was the only answer in the end.

I tried to take it up north and it just melted. So many problems - after it did an auto trans for the second time - that was the last straw, I could not even find someone to fix the thing. I had to send it back to Perth to get fixed.

The rocker cover gasket is rubber, just lift the rocker cover off
and clean everything, check the gasket if it's ok put it all back
    together. Leak fixed.
May as well reset the rocker gaps while the cover is off.

stick the haynes manual in the place it belongs, the fire place

for the same money you can get hold of the RAVE cdroms from here.

as a very temporary deal my old man has it pre-installed on a laptop if you need to borrow it.

Not always the most convenient things CDs and for the general stuff in the shed or on the road when hands are covered in grease or oil I'd prefer to get my $50.00 book dirty than my $1500.00 laptop.

I do agree though, RAVE manuals are pretty damn good.

    Nice to have the option.

You should be able to get the Land Rover Discovery factory workshop manual from Pitstop books for around that price, I did, Regards Frank.

The good thing about the rave CD is that you can search for what you are looking for and just print out the pages you need for the work you are doing.
That way it doesnt matter if you get grease or oil on them, just chuck them out when your finished.

And there are lots of other goodies on the CDs too.

    cheers

That is right. I prefer to get a few cents worth of paper dirty and greasy rather than a $50 book.

It would appear that you have a very good arrangement with Pitstop if you got the LR manual around the $65 mark as stated....I was chasing a manual for the D2 2000Td5 and chose the Haynes manual (99-2004) because the LR one for that period, (99-2003) code 623, is listed on their website for $225.00...and if you need the LR wiring manual, code 16451, it's an extra $202.00.
That's why I chose the Haynes. Different strokes for different folks I guess, or is there something about their site that I missed?

Good luck to you for getting it so cheap

    Cheers
