What??? My Disco was chipped but it still in no way towed my van better then my new car does. Any decent head wind or hill showed my D2 up ( or overtaking ).

I went from 2.5 to 4.2 and I got better fuel economy when towing and similar when not and all up my Disco cost me alot more then my new car ever has in enhancment and especially in repairs

so who chipped your D2??? pauline hanson???

    i agree with benny completely!
i have towed alot, mainly cars on trailers and i can say with out a doubt the the TD5 is hands down better and more ecconamical than, a V6 VR commodore (bigger engine 3.8L) an MQ patroll (bigger engine 3.3L) a GQ patroll (bigger engine 4.2 TURBO) disco S1(bigger engine 3.5L) an 80 series cruiser again bigger engine 4.2t and lastly my parents 105 series TD... my step day a reall toy man is astonished at how well the TD5 tows.

i recently towed 3.5 ton from dorrigo to glouster and back to sydney with the 90, i sat on 110 with the cruise on and averaged 15/100.. step dads 105series gets that towing 1500kg sitting on 90kph.

just a thought, my td5 started using more fuel when first stud on exhaust manifold snapped.Towing 2+tonnes of boat, just put it down to heavy right foot, but after fixing manifold fuel usage dropped back to normal.

Im not interested in dragging off a car in my 4wd. If I was I would not buy a 4wd. I'm interested in a reliable tough car that can tow well.

I spent 2 years and did 60000 km's in 07/08 travelling around OZ towing a van. Half of that in my D2 and the other half in my new 4wd. Without a doubt my D2 was a POS. When the auto trans died ( second time ) I just ****ed the stupid thing off

    John,
I'm sorry that your Disco was not a good car for you, and I'm pleased to hear that you are happy with your new one and that it's doing what you want of it.
But I don't get why you have the need to keep posting here that Land Rovers are no good.
Move on, enjoy you new car and let us be happy (or not) with our Land Rovers

    Regards

    Tony

I must admit the 4.2 datsun is very reliable and tough .

But if that is all you want from a 4wd then thats the one for you.

    Funny,

I was just thinking off that before, but I still have alot of experience with Disco's and when that person puts up a new post saying "Help.... " or "Thinking of buying a Disco... " is good to give them a balanced answer.

Not all my posts are bagging Disco's and often I will PM a person an answer so as to not offend the people here because it may not be to flattering.

I wish that when I posted my "Thinking about buying a Disco..." that I had received a balanced answer.

Its an open forum where good and bad opinions are allowed is it not?

I get plenty of bagging about my Toyo and as far as I am concerned thats fair enough
