yep, its working...
because its a diesel and its not subject to manifold vacume what you are refering too as the PCV is actually just a filtered vent with what amounts to a splash guard.
How do I check the PCV Valve on my TD5 Mine seems to be open when I remove it how do I check if it is working?

But theres no filter in it?
The vent is constantly open?

Cheers Dave,
But why is there a valve on a spring? that dosent move? when all the other cars have one way valves that rattle?
Bit confused?
ITs got me stuffed, near as I can guess by the way its plumbed and whats in the RAVE manual is that its to stop you from developing a low pressure in the crank case.. I'm assuming that its there in the event that you get a clogged air filter and give it a boot full in an endevour to help stop it sucking its own sump oil and running on.

It's OK susesd it.
Removing the diaphram if you suck and blow down the inlet from the crankcase there is no restriction but place your thumb over the pipe that goes in to the inlet tract then suck whilst slowly removing your thumb and the valve closes off so it works.
