If you go a bigger IC then you will most likely have to increase the fueling from your pump to make use of any extra air, an increase in the wastegate pressure will also be required to use the extra cooling capacity.

You don't get anything for nothing and if you use the extra power you can expect to pay for it in your fuel. However I think most have been happy that the increase in performance for a very small loss in fuel economy.

I would tow your van with the car as is then you might appreciate the improvements from your mods ortherwise they migfht go unnoticed.

i had my 300tdi'd fuel pump tweaked......made towing the caravan a lot better although still a little slow on the hills

if you tweak the fuel pump i would suggest an EGT gauge so you can keep an eye on temps

i would agree with the tweaking of the pump a tad considering most landys are de-rated from the factory if you are prepared to pay a fair bit more say around the $2500 mark (dont quote me on that) and get a good gas system put on it will give you noticable power/torque increase and also at the same time give you BETTER fuel economy otherwise just do lots of minor things to get the landy up and singing

I have the full Allisport kit including intercooler, radiator and variable nozzle turbo (all imported and fitted by previous owner). The other day I towed a trailer with 1m3 of rock dust on board with no problem, although I was doing the right thing by the R380 and sitting on 80kph in 4th gear even though it would pull it in 5th.
The temp gauge sits in the same position all the time, even on a 40* day.

Thanks for that, of interest is that AlliSport are quoting an, on average fuel reduction usage of 10% with a power & torque increase of 18-20%??
