Hi, You should mark the nut regardless. Is it the Banjo type that can be removed from the housing or do you access the diff from a removable pan on the rear face? The latter is Salisbury.
It's not the end of the world if it's a Banjo as the flange torques up to a shoulder, so in theory you cant overtighten it and upset the preload. Sadly the reality is the opposite of that due to wear and such.
Best try and remember what it felt like as you retighten it
