Thermos not turning on
Just a quick question
Where is the relay for the thermo fans on a Discovery 93
There are no fuses blown but there not turning on
So its got to be a relay somewhere
Thanks

Thermos? Werent discos fitted with a viscous fan from the factory? If thats the case the thermos are fitted after and the fuse could be anywhere...

Both
Both by the look of it twin 10 inch
If they didnt come out with thermos and the ones that are fitted dont work it would stop air flow instead of increasing it i would guess
What else would cause it to overheat everything else has been changed water pump thermostat radiator flush the Viscous fan is ok sure cant stop it while it spinning
Im stumped

Try hot wiring the fans to check them.
Find the plug on the fan and give it power and an earth, if they spin trace the loom backwards.

If you still have the viscous fan, then the other twin fans are for the A/C.
Run the car and turn on the A/C and they should start.
Not 100% sure about the 93 Disco, but later Discos also used these A/C fans as thermo fans for extra cooling if the engine got really hot, but we're not talking normal operating temps here the engine needs to be really hot.
They would kick in at elevated temps even if the A/C wasn't on, and also cut the A/C out if the A/C was on.

If the fans on the Disco are the same as the fans on the RRc then they come on with the air-con.
If you want to use them for additional cooling without A/C, then turn the A/C thermostat down (select higher interior temp) and the compressor won't cut in.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

You say the radiator has been flushed, but has it been rodded IE: removed, dismantled and the radiator tubes physically cleaned out?
Is it a Tdi or V8

If a Disco is the same as my 92 RRC the thermo fans have 2 functions, they come on ALL THE TIME when the aircon is on( not just when the compressor operates) and they turn on if the motor temp exceeds 100 or 105 C or thereabouts.
The thermostat switch for temp cut in is the big white thing on the side of the thermostat housing.
Bridge the wires and they should turn on.
If they do not as previously posted start testing by hotwiring the fans. Both of mine died and I replaced with 1 Davies Craig I had lying around and a Supercheap one.
