Hmmm... When I did my 300TDi training, the tech guys left us in no doubt that we should never take the pulley off.
I don't know if there's anyone else with a cunning plan but my advise would be to find your local Bosch service centre!

Hi All,
The front shaft seal on my injector pump developed a leak, so I took the pump out and removed the pulley in order to replace the seal.
When I removed the pulley, I found that there is no keyway available on the tapered shaft so that I can place the pulley in the exact position from where it came. (I need to do this so the locking pin lines up for TDC when replacing the timing belt)
I have a dial guage for the back of a VE, but can't find the correct lift figures for TDC on a 300tdi. Also cant find any procedure for doing this job, as I would need to be able to hold the shaft in position whilst trying to fit the pulley. This is harder than it looks because the shaft will want to spring back at that position.
Can anyone point me in the right direction ....please!!
Kind regards
Maarten

Ir is a conical shaft without location key, you have to take it to a pump specialist.
from memory the 200tdi pump has 3 bolts that hold the pully on,these are spaced so that the pulley only can go on one way, dont know if the 300 is the same

Like Arthur (Chucaro) says, It needs to be re phased on a test bench. NEVER remove the front pulley. Also, a common cause of seal leakage from front of pump is worn pump bushes. A reco pump is then the best bet.

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
British Off Road in Qld have one used in stock and in Hobart is one as well.
Thanks for the posts so far,
You can't change the seal without removing the pulley, so it had to be done.
I have previously re-timed a VE pump in one of my Mazda RF7 engines. It is done by fitting a dial guage to the back of the pump, then rotating the shaft until a certain measurement is acheived on the guage. When set, this represents TDC No.1 which corresponds to the locking pin.
What I need is the lift figure for TDC and preferably a procedure to do that.
Kind regards

This is more a question than anything.
I have changed IP over without removing the belt or front housing even, using a home made version of LRT - blahblah do a search on injection pump holding tool.
The pulley stays in the housing and the locking pin keeps the pump at TDC.
I guess though, the belt holds the pulley at TDC and the pin holds the IP at TDC and you just put it back together... but it does mean the pulley is removed from the pump.
OR!!!! JC do you mean dont seperate the plate the pulley bolts to from the main pump body?
Im all confused now!!!!

If you do a search on the forum you will find a pdf file with the data of the Bosh pump on it.
I am not remember if that specs are on it.
Cheers
The manual goes into a lot of detail about the pump & types of injectors but it doesn't look as though it has the detail you're after.
