Right now I'm sitting under the Daydream's awning at the Maroochy Palms big 4 enjoying a Coopers Sparkling ale.

    ^ Very nice!

I had some pretty good wine this afternoon at the "Good Food and Wine Show" at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. Soooo much free food and wine!! We also came home with half a dozen bottles for later... It was my first year going, but I can see it being a yearly event!

    Thread revival time!
I'm a bit of an amateur bar keep (I refuse to use the word mixologist), a fact which my father takes great delight in using to his advantage.
As such, when he said "make me something exotic" tonight, I did!

The official recipe lists it as a "liquid Marijuana" however mine is a bit different.
Instead of pineapple juice I used OJ with a dash of peach schnapps, also has blue curacao, melon liquor, coconut rum, spiced rum.
It's not bad, if somewhat girly

Thanks for the thread revival Muppet.

    Has anyone tried Mead before?

Mead is an alcoholic beverage that is produced by fermenting a solution of honey and water. It may also be produced by brewing a solution of water and honey with grain mash, which is strained before or after fermentation. Depending on local traditions and specific recipes, it may be flavored with spices, fruit, or hops (which produce a bitter, beer-like flavor). The alcoholic content of mead may range from about 8% to 18%. It may be still, carbonated or naturally sparkling, and it may be dry, semi-sweet or sweet.

Mead is not the same beverage as honey-wine however they are often confused with each other or thought to be the same beverage. While mead is made of honey, water and beer-yeast (barm), honey-wine is watered honey fermented by recrement of grapes (or other fruits).

I"m undecided if I'm a big fan... It's certainly not like anything I've had before. I expected it to taste like a dessert wine, but it's very light tasting. It might grow on me, but so far 50/50. I'll have a few more glasses over the coming days/weeks and report back.

Mead? Yuck, is all I can say. I don't mind some sweet stuff, but that was well beyond my tastes.

    Yep, saw that.
It is a light beer though, but I guess that means you can drink more of them

I imagine coming home from a long run or the gym and drinking beer to rehydrate. Awesome.

(I'm sure it's not like drinking water, but ignorance is bliss).

Isn't that how you're supposed to do it anyway?

Right now, I have a nice cold Coopers Dark on the computer desk beside me.
Thirsty work putting down a fresh batch of home brew malted lager, but somebodies got to do it, right?
