Thread: 4BD1 into defender

    As john put it the 4BD1 is from the old s3 stage 1 which is an 84 mod

    Looks like i will have to build from scratch what im after then as finding a 130 and doing the engin swap wont be any good .

    There are certainly different standards for Marine/Industrial and Roadgoing diesels. E.g. we now have Euro IV, but that cannot apply to marine/ind diesels if the 4BG1T can still be sold and fitted to new boats/gensets.

    When the engineer did the inspection of my conversion, http://www.aulro.com/afvb/isuzu-land...onversion.html, the only thing he wanted to know about the engine was that it was ADR30 (emissions) compliant. admittedly it was an '88 engine going into an '88 model vehicle, but he really didn't seem concerned with other engine details. So it might be worth looking into just what is required.
