Ah, I was wondering when you said 4th gear. The transfer ratio is 1.22:1, or 1:1?

Higher gearing makes these go well, peak torque seems to be about 2Krpm, in my case that is top gear (4th) @ 100km/h approx.

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈

I'd love to see some actual comparisons to back up these sort of 'internet' claims..... How about you get some in gear times between a few set speeds, (measure them honestly though otherwise its just pointless)... and maybe a 0-100kmh (using a gps to remove any speedo inaccuracies) and I will do the same....

    Lets see...

Psimpson7, are you familiar with a member called gecko, at the time he had a chipped td5 plus upgraded intercooler running 33's and 4.1 diff ratios which would aid in better take off but less top end, any way my car 15 psi no intercooler 33's standard gearing and smoked it, and on the same day there was a puma there as well and I was easily quicker than them as well. I am in Brisbane for christmas if anyone wants a drag race.

I'm not 12, so not really interested in drag racing anyone on the public road, but if you are so confident post up some figures....

I'm sure I wont be the only one interested......

I had a best 0-100 time of about 15 seconds with 20psi boost and no intercooler.
The gear ratios are a big handicap, I'd expect a tweaked TD5 to beat me by a couple of seconds, mainly due to rev range and gear ratios.

A puma 90 is around 17 seconds according to this page:
Land Rover Defender TD4 90 SW lap times and specs - FastestLaps.com

It's sobering to see that 2.4 ton to 100km/h in 15 seconds is an average power output of only 61kw.
The Puma averages 40kw to the ground.

Funnily enough, I've just done the same average power check on a few other vehicles (including cars) and they all seem to come out with average power about half of the claimed peak power.

Could be a good yardstick. Might need some adjustment for drivetrain drag on 4wd's vs 2wd's (40kw/90kw for the puma gives 45%).

If you use the same 45% the puma got and apply it to mine it would suggest about 135kw. My guesstimate was 130kw so it adds some weight to the claims.
It also leads to some wild predictions. With 200kw you can launch to 100km/h in 9 seconds.

    Cross over

    Hey Lambrover
What size cross over pipe are you using. Are you top mount or in front intercooler.

I can see it now 2 Defenders dragging off at the lights, full noise, turbos whistling, engines revving....... then been overtaken by an Astra.

The gear ratio isnt the best I must say its all standard im pretty sure but theres a few things that are strange 1.first gear seems a tad to high on takeoff compared to defender lt77 or R380 2.but on other hand 1st low range seems slower than anything known to man (excluding mogs of course) 3. 5th gear on say about 100km/h seems like,to many revs but cannot say due to no tacho !
It all comes down to revs and gear ratios between the fenders and isuzu's harder reving fenders feel more impressive but then there's a hill !
