Normally exhaust stainless is ferritic grade (400 series) which isn't as corrosion resistant as 304/316 but doesn't expand/contract as much with temperature change, is easier to weld and is more formable.
The 304/316 grades expand/contract 50% more than mild steel and don't go through a phase transformation when cooling. Rough translation, 304/316 stainless pulls/distorts a ridiculous amount during welding.

do you know what grade it is 316 or 304 either will do the job tho im told 304 is better for exhaust stuff .
