AFAIK US trucks are 12V, so if the 6B(B/D)1 was sold there then a 12V starter should be available.

But if not you can also just bridge batteries for starting using a 24V starter. Plenty of people with truck 4BD1s in landies do that.

Where is the Isuzu ( Nippon Denso ) Part number for the starter?

Do we have a comprehensive list somewhere

I saw lots of others for clutch bits etc

The one I used may not be correct

    Thanks Ben,

I have two bridged batteries in the 6BB1/Mk3 Inter and even with new batteries never get much cranking speed other than just enough to get barely over compression when the diesel starts.

I'm thinking that a lot of the problem is a worn out or 24V starter (or both) and so am looking for a replacement preferably suitable 12V. Hence my question.

Will check out the US markets!

(addit: when you say "bridge two batteries", do you mean run two batteries in series or parallel?
    And.
If in series, could you take a 12V secondary battery charged through an isolator, an switch it over to series on cranking by using a winch change-over relay?)

    Thanks Mike

Unfortunately when you check the details on that item it lists:
    1. "ISUZU 6BB1 Engine Starter"
    2. "24V/11T/4.5KW"

Now now that's enough of this Me Me Me business, now we can talk about Me.

I just thought we were talking about the B series starter motors and rather than starting a new thread for very similar concerns, the post asking about a list of available starters would probably answer both our questions.

(A 12V to 24V parallel to series changeover would also be of use to people using 24V truck starters on their Landies.
