Hahahahaha yep mine is a white county with blue county stickers if u was refering to the colour hahaha
Is that a Greeen beast with white roof in your sig photo?
Mines originally a late (1988) NA engine so should have Alfin pistons apparently. at 420K I turboed and intercooled it, 650 +EGT's regularly pushing a ZF 4HP22 auto towing at 100km'h +. After 3 trans destructions it is now a manual LT95, wound the fueling back down to 550 max, and has now done over 550K. NO oil consumption, NO issues minus temps starting without any glow circuit connected, and returns 11 to 15 l/100km depending on towing or not.
These engines are tough truck engines with huge longevity and reliability.

Land864 that's one of my defenders my county is white with black checker plate all over it but no photos until all mods hav been done in the next few weeks
Justin I agree they are a strong motor and so nicely designed lack in the revs department but it don't bother me because its counteracted by the torque of the engine being able to pull harder than most diesels :) everyone turns there head when without even trying it spins 33x12.5's on the tarmac :wasntme: I would like to see what rpm's I am running but I am getting all different storys on where to place my tacho pickup flywheel, injector pump or altermator? I already hav a tacho out of a td5 or 300tdi (that's if the tdi came out with one) vdo brand....
depending on what type of tacho input you'relooking for depends on where you put it...
for ease of installation the ones that clamp an injector line with a piezo crystal are hard to go past.
for accuracy the ones that use the ring gear as a tone ring are dead on target being able to give you a rev rate every 20 degrees or so
for long term reliability the alternator ones tend to go the distance.
I personally prefer to stay away from the injector line ones except when I am diagnosing and engine under load as when they idle back the pulse to the injector is not always enough to trigger them and if your on over run in a full engine braking situation there is no injected fuel.
The tdi300+vac pump alternator solution (as fitted to the TGV) is probably your best bet unless you have one of the truck mount alternators that give the rev count or have the timing case adaptor version that from memory reads off of the front of the IP gear.
Ah
You have a collection chief:)
Rovercare what type of turbo are running I can't get that much boost I am running a t25 and getting max 18 psi boost. I think you might be right on the wheel spin thing, I can chirp the wheels but wouldn't say it was proper wheel spin. I am to afraid of snapping something these days after the amount of work I have done to it
I get a whisp of smoke past the passenger window, 2nd gear round LH sweeping bends with the amount of body roll I've got/ had in the Rangie. Was quite fun actually:twisted:
