Could someone advise best coolant to use and motor oil as they will be replaced tommorow. Cheers.
    Gotta love the Stage 1's.
It looks familiar. I think I'd been watching this one on ebay, carsales or another site.
Is the striping missing on one of the doors on the other side?

no all the stripes are there, they're not the original stripes are they?

I'd have said no but there is another around like it. The one I was looking at.

cheers for replys, used to tip-toeing around the d2 thinking everything needs the exact lubes/coolant. Got underneath and tightened a lot of loose steering bolts. Most of the movement is on the relay levers and they do not want to tighten up. Might be best to replace it. Had a shed full of parts before moving up here and sure could use them now. Always the way, you store it for so long, then you get rid of it and end up needing them.
Went bush today with the family and the old girl ate it up, smiling from ear to ear.

I would expect that it has worn tie rod ends, worn steering box, worn swivels, possibly worn spring bushes, and maybe other problems such as steering arms loose on the swivels or pitman arm loose on the steering box. I would also check for loose U-bolts.

I agree totally, just pointing that larger/er tyres are not the cause of the bad drive, merely they highlight the issues a little more promptly

After tightening up ALL the steering nuts and bolts the old girl is heaps better to drive. I recon the gravel roads up here with the pot holes and corrigations has taken its toll. Looks like I'm going to need to put a swivel pin kit in. What options do I have? Are they are different to earlier sIII's?
Also turns over like it's got a flat battery first thing in the morning when cold, even though the battery is new. Could be alternator? are these ones on US ebay any good?

I would first check the condition of the battery in the morning, and if 12.5V or so then ensure that the earth strap etc is OK, connected to the block AT THE STARTER this will ensure good earth connection. The 4BD1 requires exceptional earthing and battery cabling .

    Hi Woz

    I have both a 1983 Stage One V8 and a 1985 Isuzu.

You are lucky enough to have them wrapped up in one

As JC has said , the Isuzu is very susceptible to poor starting due to bad earth.

When I had bad earthing recently I thought my Isuzu alternator was shot and the battery was gone.

The alternator has recently given up but the issue was earthing.

I think there are 3 lots of earthing on the 110 Isuzu ; from the battery to the body , from the alternator to the body and from the engine to the chassis.

My one from engine to chassis was a brass braided one and was badly frayed.

We fitted a new earth strap from the gearbox to the chasssis and all was good.

    Enjoy your build up

    Pete G

You will have to cut your alt mount for it to fit.. the feet are 19mm closer together on the later type alt.

I got one, and cut the mount with a hacksaw. I then used the cut off piece as a kind of washer so I could use the same bolt to hold it in.
