    So
Took the baboon to a disel dyno shop for a tune, their telling me they cant tune it properly without a boost compensator on the pump, so he is chasing one up for me, it runs way to rich at low rpms to get desired fuel at mid and upper rpms. But anyway its sitting at about 70kw's at all four wheels on 35's atm, but more to come next week....

I have put a boost compensator (temporarily) on a pump that didn't have one. It involves not only drilling out your rear governor case but also welding on a tab inside for the rod from the boost compensator to push on. It's quite involved.

Another option, but also internally is to make another fuel plate, the fuel plate is an internal cam that rotates and sets maximum fuel throughout the rpm range. These aren't externally adjustable though.

    Why bother with a tuner?

That's interesting as with a limited rev range and they turbo not pumping enough air at low revs to burn all the fuel it might be the turbo is not well matched.......you could raise the engine governor though

When they say "way too rich". Is it smoking badly and is it part of the rpm range you use?

Because rich (but not polluting) helps turbo spool and that's supposed to be a very quick spooling turbo anyway.

Didnt talk much to them as i'm outta town, but they basically just told me there was too much unburnt fuel at low rpms, it wasnt smokey at all when i had the fuel screwed right up, the fella has someone having a look at it today who apparently is a 4bd1 guru, see what they come up with

as rovercare said..... i always get tuners say that and most tuners will run and hide at even the slightest sign of smoke and then make the comment about its way to rich etc etc what do they expect from a IP that gets told to pump as much as possible by the right foot and a turbo that hasnt realised whats going on its only rich for a second maybe 2 thats how i look at it....

IME a 4bd1t without an aneroid will blow a puff of black smoke when you plant your foot, but no more than the average japanese diesel of the same vintage, and not enough to make them fail emissions testing.

guys just thought i would let use know that the poblems that i was having with my fuel pump (not getting any extra fuel out of it) and starting ruff has been sorted to a certain degree! i was explain before that there is a screw on the front of the pump that controls the rack travel and that i found controls the startup fuel (few of use would already know) it was all the way in
