    My stick broke whilst on a first date with a lady I was very keen on. Obviously made quite an impression as she didn't respond to any further advances from me after that night..
    The worse part was the 80km drive home using only low range and high range 3rd gear.

    The stick having it's first break is the coming of age in a Land Rover!

    Some sticks seem to get welded back in better than others.

    That is probably the only thing that hasn't changed in the land Rover since 1948.
    It's ability to surprise the operator, by leaving the stick in his hand whilst disconnecting it's attachment to the gear selector mechanism .
