    "Randy" doesn't have lpg

I'd just stick a 6bd1 in, wack a Garrett on and drive it, I wish I had of originally

I wonder how far back you would have to position a 6bd1 ? How heavy are they ?

I reckon it would squeeze in maybe with a small firewall mod and transmission tunnel, 50% more hp, torque would be ridiculous, smoother, I'd say another 100kgs at worst, takes all the same ancillaries and engine mounts and you have the wheelbase to push the box back, all extra weight is behind the front axle

    I have considered the following:
1.hpc coating everything from piston crowns to dump pipe
2.some sort of head gasket that will handel high boost pressures???
3.head "studs" i dont know where from though?
4.inline electric fuel pump to boost fuel pressure to the IP just to help it but im not sure if it would even do anything to the pump found on these motors...
5.started tinkering with water injection but the problems that could occur if system fails is not worth it.
6.water spray for intercooler for occasional use only.

Im sure everyone has had there weird and wonderfull ideas so lets here some
    1 but exy
    2 get it made
    3 get them made
4 yes a good 30psi in will work
5 agree though water injection into the exorst manifold pre turbo should get good results.
6 do int bother to get the water spray pattern to work a diffident speed etc etc to hard for little gains.

Bush65 has studs in his engine now. I think he had to modify some for length.
Randy made the stock head-gasket leak at 60psi boost. Unless you've got a seriously modified injection pump you won't get that far. There are about 3 guys so far who have maxed out the stock US market 4BD1T injection pumps with safe EGT's and mid 20's boost. With more clamping force from finer thread studs the gasket will take more boost.

IMO water injection is for the point where your turbos are balls to the wall and can't produce any more boost to cool the combustion. It's most popular in diesel applications where intercooling is either against the rules (tractor pulling) or really bad for aerodynamics (JCB DieselMax).

    I think it's this order.
    1. Drivetrain that can take 600Nm reliably.
    2. Double the flywheel weight.
    3. Turbos capable of 30psi with a decent intercooler.
    4. Fuel pump maxed out.
    5. Drivetrain capable of 800Nm reliably.
    6. Compound turbos.
    7. Custom built fuel pump.

It'd be good if Randy would surface again. Starting to worry about the guy.

Chev 6.5 ltr V8 diesel, Hino 6 speed truck gear box. Know it can be done , know some one with all this and more in a County. Would I guess pull the skin of at least to rice puddings at once.

The 4BD1T is capable of a lot more power and torque than the chev 6.5. The 6.2 and 6.5's have a terrible reputation for durability, strength, head issues, cooling issues and crank/block cracking at stock power levels.

Not to mention the better fuel economy and less cooling needed in the Isuzu. The Chev 6.6 Duramax is worth having, but that's an Isuzu anyway.

    If you want a 6.2 V8, there's one for sale here: http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=450100654
Note the comments about oil usage and heads crack tested. Personally I'd rather have a 200/300tdi.

i personaly dont like the v8's due to all the reasons that dougal just said only one that i have heard good things about is the 6.6 which as you just said is isuzu anyways....the isuzu with a terrible state of tune like i recently just had made the v8 saharas look like they are not even moving and that was on a long hill
i do think the straight 4 and 6 motors sound better too

the annoying thing is getting what randy has got done to his pump is virtually impossible in this country unless theres a way to get every part number for the mods that were done and have a friendly injection specialist i recon.
the main things that you would need to know is the barrel and plunger sizes/part numbers because they would be out of a larger motor and also what frame size they used in his pump and part number im sure theres alot more!

i havnt seen a post anywhere on the net from randy in months and months come to think of it

i would probably consider the 6bd1t if something happens to mine it would be amazing !

Before his wife buggered off Randy had plans to offer injection pump upgrades similar to his. His were at the extreme end of the scale, but there should be a range of options along similar lines.
Randy's pump had a different governor fitted which required quite a lot of shaving of the block to physically fit. I'm hoping he can do a less extreme modification that doesn't require that.

yeah its a shame that he has not been on for awhile and a shame whats happened to the poor fella...
i would also be interested in some mods as you have said if they came in different levels.
with his governor if i remember he was running 5000rpm and running uprated chev v8 valve springs too wasnt he?

about the 6bd1 again i have had no luck finding a factory 4bd1t motor let alone a 6bd1 im dreading my phone bill this month too after searching for one everyday so i gave up and seeing how long the NA motor will last
