Nitrous Oxide![]()
Just wondering what everyone thinks but never does in regards to performance gaining to there isuzu's.
I have considered the following:
1.hpc coating everything from piston crowns to dump pipe
2.some sort of head gasket that will handel high boost pressures???
3.head "studs" i dont know where from though?
4.inline electric fuel pump to boost fuel pressure to the IP just to help it but im not sure if it would even do anything to the pump found on these motors...
5.started tinkering with water injection but the problems that could occur if system fails is not worth it.
6.water spray for intercooler for occasional use only.
Im sure everyone has had there weird and wonderfull ideas so lets here some![]()
Nitrous Oxide![]()
Have you thought about a super charger for down low power with an electro magnetic clutch, this would be switched off when a turbo has reach a desired boost to take over from the super charger. I have worked on Volvo engines sep up like this.
petrol injection
Petrol / Methanol / Water Injection on Diesels
yes yes yes yes yes!!!!
diy kit for 2000 so tempting![]()
Petrol detonates in engines with over roughly 12:1 compresion ratio. What do you think 18:1 is going to do?![]()
well i have considered nitros like the drag trucks use but im not sure how hard it is to get hold of over here???
i have also thought about a vortec supercharger but im not sure where to start looking for them but would be interesting to see if it works like on the volvo's
other thing with petrol is its abrasive compared to diesel and im not sure if i would like it in my engine.
Nitrous is for adding extra oxygen. It's not much use on a diesel outside the drag-strip as your EGT's go through the roof without the cooling air to go with the extra oxygen.
Superchargers are seriously inefficient and suck a lot of crank power. I did some calcs for a guy on IH8MUD with a 15B toyota engine. At 2000rpm it's taking over 15kw of crank power to provide the equivalent of 10psi boost. Turbos are better.
Performance on these motors is about firstly getting enough boost in, secondly about fuel to match. Randy (Carcrafter22) has shown the engines themselves are plenty strong enough, it's the driveline that is a concern for most of us.
Also illegal to use on the street AFAIK, the bottle and injection can be in place but must be disconnected somehow when on the road.
Also I was told a sticker must be on the out side of vehicle similar to LPG, let the fireys know when they come to your twisted wreck wrapped around a tree and so the rozzers could pull you over and check it's disconnected......
This was a few years ago I was looking into it for my bombadoor, things may have changed now?
Does LPG injection apply to the isuzus well?
What about a big mutha compound turbo set up like some of the racing trucks use?
What about both together?
