4BG1T?
It's an industrial, not vehicle engine, so you will most likely need the RLD governor from your 4BD1.
How about a pic of the injector pump and a close up of the numbers on the injection pump (I'm interested in the plunger diameter).
The BG's have a good reputation for their robustness, and the extra displacement won't hurt.
A quick Google turned up these specs: Isuzu B Series Engines - Models 4BG1, 4BG1T - Diesel Engine Motor.Com
Does that mean only 2500 max RPM from the factory?
Steve
Ill get some more pics tonight John but you are correct the governor is very different from the quick look I had at it this morning it is controlled via a steper style motor with a arm to the max fuel cam...from what I have gathered by punching the numbers into my mate at the local diesel service's computer system it comes up as a 2002 model BB4BG1TRY out of a kobelco excavator...unfortunately it has 9.5mm plungersso I am considering swapping pumps with my 4BD1 as it has had some work done to it...I will hopefully get both pumps ran up on the test bench and get some graphs of what each is delivering...
The problems I foresee are parts for the motor as I have contacted LOTS of Isuzu places and even Isuzu Australia and none want a bar of this model motor as it was not imported by Isuzu themselves into AustraliaI received a workshop manual in the mail today so this may be my only hope...
Sorry, was out of town on business.
Any idea on the internal condition of it? If you've got boatloads of cash, get Randy to build you a pump and send it over. Otherwise as I told you last week, everything from your 4BD1 should swap over.
Any numbers on the turbine side of that turbo? Let us know when you get it off whether it's the split pulse IHI manifold or the single port T2 pattern one.
Your excused then
Well seeing as though I got it for the price I did I am not to concerned about if it turns out shagged or not....I took the turbo off and the manifold is the single outlet T2 style so I am thinking the other manifold I was using would be better (T3 or whatever it is) i did not check to see the turbine housing size however I did look at the turbo and thought briefly about using it in a compound setup...
I did notice that 2 glow plugs are missing so I'm assuming they got it hydraulically locked at some stage so I hope it hasn't bent a rod ...
My mate at the diesel service said he would mod the pump if I can find the plunger/barrels used etc etc however it will probably be easier to get it sent to randy like you said...I was thinking of sending it to schied diesel if I cannot get in touch with randy...
Here's the pictures you pair wanted...I will get better ones once I have the pumps off and on the test bench but that may be weeks away...
I got some spec sheets on the 4BD1,4BD1T and 4BG1T illustrating rpm and fuel delivery with the adjustments for idle fuel etc etc but I need to get them scanned once I do I'll post them up...
Nameplate on tappet cover
4BG1T IP tag
4BG1T Injection pump
4BG1T exhaust manifold
4BG1T turbo (needs cleaning before I can see the numbers on housings so will edit once cleaned Dougal)
Also found that the 4BG1T injector body is the same as the 4BD1T but different nozzles than both the 4BD1 and 4BD1T...
4.3 L, 147kW and over 385Nm in marine use?
I reckon you can push this baby to 500Nm !
Lovely, can't get these at all over here!
