Well that pretty well wraps it up. Had the heater off to fix the fan and its back on now. Tappet breather is not going any where but nothing is coming out of it anyway so might just stick a little plastic fuel filter in it.
Opened the pump another 1/2 turn so its one complete turn now. Goes even better and no smoke yet so I will drive it like this for a while.

Yes you were spot on. In fact I like that manifold, it leaves room around the starter.
Do you have another for sale?

Is that the one I am using, an IHI flange?
If so it is compact. I was going for a remote turbo in the 2B FC but I think this manifold will work. If its the same as the one I am using now I will buy it.

Yours will be a T2 flange. You can make an IHI manifold work with a T2/T25/T28 turbo by slotting the holes in the turbo flange. That's how I'm running.

I didnt need to slot the holes in the one I have. It suits the T28.

Top-mount T2 manifold. They are still used on industrial engines (4BG1T etc) and chinese copies of the 4BD1 (even non turbo they are using this manifold).

    VDO tacho not compatible

Well, really pleased wth the way this turbo is working. I can chug up hills in 2nd that I would have used first before. Went to Brissie a couple of days ago, cruising at 110 with the 996 gears in the LT95 and with the Fairy in OD. EGTs about 400 and boost 6 or 7 PSI.
At 90 k,s I can actually pull out and overtake. Bloody marvellous.
Only prob is that when I bought a new 80 amp alternator the 2" VDO tacho would not work anymore. Read too high. No matter where I put the 3 switches, still too high.
Talked to my sparkie I bought the VDO and the Alt from and VDO told him that the tacho wont work with Alts that have 12 poles. The old original alt had 8 I think he said. So right now no tacho any more.
Anyone any ideas, can I convert the tacho or can I buy another brand of 2" that will work with a 12 pole alt?

Yup, turboing these is a mandatory activity. I'd be careful with that Fairey though
