    Help?

Assume you're saying the exhaust won't fit in that gap, but I'm struggling to understand what the photo is of...
    Unless I've got it wrong.....
Photo is looking forward from the LH side of the transmission.
Index finger is near the inboard lower corner of LH footwell.
Further past the corrugated split tube appears to be the turbo compressor housing and wastegate actuator.

Only room for 2.5 fingers - not a 3" tube.

Ah huh! Yes that makes sense. I couldn't get out of my head the idea of looking from the engine bay, which kept confusing my little brain.

For interests sake, I might take the same photo of mine for comparison. Without being near my vehicle, I feel like I have lots more space there...

Because I'm using an engine and gearbox from an Isuzu truck I have more room there, and my starter motor is lower, which also gives more room to run the exhaust above and behind the starter.

But I don't need to run the exhaust through that gap in any case, because there is room below the floor, alongside the chassis rail, but above the cross member.

Edit 2 pics with a 3" mandrel bend sitting on the cross member to give an idea of how much space is available with my gearbox. The first is taken from inside the cab, the 2nd from in the engine bay looking down from just in front of the bulkhead.

Finally had a moment with daylight and no rain. Photo from under, looking up through the gap I thought looked big enough for the exhaust. TBH I'm going to have to change my mind. From the top it "looks" OK, but from underneath there isn't really enough space.

A WD40 can is 2.5" diameter and just fits. In theory it would fit, but depends how much clearance you want around it. Holding the can up against one side, leaves about 10mm gap. Not ideal. A 3" exhaust would not fit at all.

Taper to 4 inch and squash it to an oval that's 2.5 inch wide.
