So that would mean that a box from a tdi disco will have the same lenght input shaft and bellhousing as a box from a tdi deefer am i right ?

The only difference will be the shifter position and these would be interchangeable right ?

The box from a v8 disco it will have the longer input is this able to be swaped with the input shaft fron a tdi box ?

Yes to the first bit.
Yes to the second and third bit but remember the spigot bush diameter is smaller.
