Not so budget turbo install

700 post turbo should be fine. Pre-turbo it depends on how attentive you are. I've seen 900C a few times when I wasn't looking and turbo wasn't quite spooling (wrong gear, towing etc).

I'd be worried with post readings of 700*c :eek: unless yous have got muddled up :angel:

We're saying that if the coating on the exhaust is rated up to 700degC then it will be OK as it won't see as high a temp as that post turbo.

Not meaning that a temp of 700 post turbo is OK. Like you, I'd also be worried if I was seeing that temp as it means much higher pre-turbo.

Steve is right, fuel screw removed, no more delivery and it would hardly see 720*C PRE turbo

It's pretty tight up front. And I have spotties and a high mount to go :eek::wasntme:

So far in it's life, the temp gauge has never moved much apart from a long slow up hill section towing a while back.

Thinking I might add an other temp gauge or something as backup - don't want to cook anything. No chance I would remove the heater (Hello Canberra winter) or I would cut the guard for a vent for more flow.

What's the best temp sensor? CHT? Coolant alarm?

I'm guessing most people would have EITHER a turbo OR A/C.. I'm keeping both as I have a unit in the back of the cab (and plan on making an other one to fit between the front seats).

Also worked out the blow through. Gas was too high. (9-10) At 5-6 it is still giving me good coverage and puddle control, without being on the ragged edge the whole time. TIG needs much less that MIG! (wish I'd known that before :angel: )

Oil drain now done, and routes around the crank case vent OK with a 45degree elbow out on the pump cover.

Intercooler all hooked up, with the water pump mounted up inside the front fender behind the headlight.

Heat exchanger all mounted up, brakets made and seem to be holding.
