If you are not pulling 8t gross around a warm climate, you probably don't need 8 litres of oil.
My 4BD1T runs about 6 litres (I got rid of the rubber sandwich gasket).

Pics of the differences I found when turboing my 4BD1:

Two dipsticks side by side (top 4BD1, bottom 4BD1-T)

    Length difference close-up

    4BD1 (winged sump) dipstick position

    4BD1-T (wingless sump) dipstick position

My 4BD1T dipstick doesn't have a twist in it.

I hadn't noticed before, but the turbo dipstick tube has 2 o-rings, compared to the single on the NA one.

The 4BD1T dipstick shown will be the 88+ item which comes out in front of cylinder #1.
The 85-88 4Bd1T dipstick comes out between 1-2 and the tube is shorter.

Ben, this pic might help, items 3 and 4. These are for the 89 onward, when the change for Land Rover were the same as for the Isuzu truck (except for starter motor, flywheel housing, clutch plate and LH engine mount).

    Thanks Bush65

Do you have the part numbers for the winged sumps? I have found an enthusiastic parts guy at Isuzu Uk but we are struggling to find part numbers.
