    engine oil

I went to the local truck place to get a 20lt drum of Castrol RX Super but they now only stock RX Plus which is apparently suited to more modern engines- anyone tried it out. Would also want to use it in the LT95 gearbox/TC.

    Do you mean RX Plus?

    If so looks OK.

I usually pay around the $100 mark for RX at truck spares place.

    oil

I have tried many different oils in Isuzu, the best so far has been Repco 15W/40 diesel. I'm paying about $60 for 10l, I'm getting better economy and the engine is smoother than with other brands I've tried. Repco brand oils are blended by Penrite.

    oil

DO NOT USE DIESEL OIL IN GEARBOX! The detergents and friction modifiers will destroy your synchros in the main box,and the thrust shims in the transfer. Penrite HPR 30 is the only oil that I have found that works correctly in the LT95, due to no friction modifiers.

Some owners are using Syntrans 75-85 (which is a lightweight long life gear oil) in the gb with good results.

Your statement above is interesting, the Castrol site includes RX Super and GTX diesel as some of the recommendations for the engine and notes that engine oil may be used in the LT95....... so I'm left wondering what you're basing your statement on ? ?

As a total Noob who has spent 5 weeks trying to figure out the right oils to put into a Perentie Transfer Case and Gearbox, some of you guys sure don't make it easy...

Just when I think RX-Super is the way to go, someone comes along and throws another grade into the mix.

    OMD-115 = RX Super
    Castrol FMX = ??? What exactly ???

What's the general consensus among Perentie owners coz there's gonna be around 2500 more of them on the roads and some of those owners will be complete idiots like me?
