    1. MSA-5G
    2. MSA-5P
    3. MSA-5R

Who has what and how do they find them?

(What model truck did it come from?)
I have the 5G in our 6x6 and made my own adapter to the LT95 Tbox. You probably read the thread.
    Why not do the same?
How will you run 6x6 with an LT230?

My 5g with the 1.003 transfer case, 3.54 diffs, 33's, first gear is a little low, super low in low range though, you actually have to drive instead of crawl. All other ratios feel great though.

Same but with 29 and 31 inch rubber. Start off in second even when towing.

Hmmn, now you got me thinking. I didnt really want to go bigger tyres. Any way not for this thread.

That's what I meant about first gear. I have had times off road when I used it properly but mostly its a sort of party trick. Maybe different in a 6x6. A slightly higher first may be more benifit (still quite low)

The torque curve of these engines would overcome gearing difference and you end up with a lot larger wheel speed range. Just my 5c. ;-) I'm certain you'll be happy with the 5G if that's what is available.

Because I have a UK built 6X6 with a SMC thru-drive intermediate axle assembly.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

No one seems to have used the 5R, I would have thought the higher ratios would be better in our application? Does the 5R not adapt or is it too new or something else?

    (I was thinking MSA-5R/1.222)

    WHOOPS...

I misread lokka's post when I first replied.
    Yes, I agree 5R.
That probably makes my other post make alot more sense. Then again maybe not!

    6BB1

Out of interest. Would a MXA-6R/MXA-6S be suitable behind a 6BB1 in a Mk3 Inter?

The double overdrive spiked my interest when you're running through a reduction box in the transfer. (The Mk3 has a GVM of 8 tonne and GCM 12 tonne and the 6BB1 N.A. 5.4 litres)
    1st 4.987:1
    2nd 2.870:1
    3rd 1.684:1
    4th 1.000:1
    5th 0.728:1
    6th 0.626:1
    rev 4.774:1

Yes. The 6BB1 is lower torque than the other engines it is fitted to. You will need to swap bellhousings, likely on the engine as well as gearbox. The 6BB1 will take a 4B series bellhousing and the MXA will take a modified MSA/MSB bellhousing.
