    Gearbox and Clutch shenanigans

    Hi all,

I have a whee pickle.. Some will know a while ago I chewed 3rd on my r380 in my 110. It was converted from an lt85 about 8 years ago. There was no gearbox number on the old box so as i couldn't determine the series of it I got a new box from Ashcroft in the UK.

Long story short, the new box has the input shaft pattern the same as an Lt85 but the old R380 was (I think) tdi.

The overall length is right, but it needs a different spigot and (the biggie) the splines are not in the right place to engage the clutch.

I'm working over seas at the moment so I have a landrover mechanic doing the install for me....

Thinking logically, I just need the correct (for the old lt85) clutch (and flywheel etc?) to get it to link up. Am I correct here? The other option is to put a different input shaft into the gearbox - Ashcroft are happy to supply this but taking the box apart would be at my cost...

If I'm correct about the clutch swap, what parts do I need?

    Thanks

Some info and P/N's for the spigot bearing and bush here: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/projects-t...g-housing.html

I'd think you'd just need the LT85 clutch plate, assuming you've got the standard 275mm clutch fitted. P/N is AYG3463 according to the part numbers sticky.

Use a lt85 4bd1 clutchplate -same spline as td5 and 300tdi clutch plates but diff o.d..... your gearbox needs to have a 300tdi pinon shaft ...have a look at my thread on my install send me a pm if you want talk it through on the phone happy to help
